The Kindred Collection is the first collection by Studio Camour: handcrafted leather accessories for dogs and the people beside them. It gathers the essentials of the everyday you share, each piece held to a single design language and adapted in material and construction to the dog it is made for. This is the thinking behind it.

One Design Language, Every Size

Most collections begin with a product. This one began with a decision. The bond between a person and their companion does not come in one size, so the collection could not either. A single design language runs through every piece, from the smallest companion to the largest, and extends to the person by their side. What changes from one size to the next is the material and the construction. The design remains. The way it is built adapts to the dog who wears it.

For smaller breeds, that means a smooth, soft calf leather, light against the body and gentle to the touch, because on a smaller frame every gram is felt. For larger breeds, it means a vegetable tanned full grain leather, dense and structured, that deepens in character with every year. Two leathers, one standard, one world at both ends of the scale.

The Reeve Collar is where the collection begins. The classic, worn day in, day out, made in two executions, for smaller and for larger breeds, each in the leather and construction its size asks for.

The Bond Leash carries the collection's idea in its name. It is the daily connection between you, made to be held, with a weight and a surface chosen for the hand that holds it. Like the Reeve, it is made for smaller and for larger breeds.

Hardware, Designed From the Ground Up

The hardware on every piece is ours alone. Every hook, buckle and plate is designed in house, from the proportions to the way each clasp opens and closes, and made in solid brass, massive all the way through. This is where a piece works hardest, at the points that carry the daily pull of a companion. A clasp should please the eye as much as it holds. Designing the hardware ourselves, rather than taking it ready-made, is the only way to shape every detail with the same intention. The brass is nickel-free, gentle against skin and fur, and finished with a protective coating made to stand up to the moisture of daily life.

The Ateliers Behind the Collection

Every leather piece in the collection is handcrafted in a small, specialised atelier in Lombardy, in Northern Italy. We work closely with the people who make our pieces, in a partnership built on proximity and mutual respect. Ideas are developed together, questioned and refined as we go. Samples are made, tested and adjusted, sometimes many times over, until a piece is exactly what we set out to create.

Handwork also shows itself in the finished piece, and we would not want it any other way. Stitching set by hand varies a little from one piece to the next, and even within the same piece. The leather, a natural material, carries its own small variations too. Where a seam asks for more strength than the hand can give it, we use a machine for the double cross-stitch, a decision made, like every decision here, by what the piece needs. Everything else carries the signature of the hands that made it. No two pieces are exactly alike, and that is just as it should be. Yours is its own from the first day.

The hardware comes from Tuscany, a region with centuries of fine metal craft behind it, from goldsmithing to wrought iron. Different hands, different crafts, one standard, held from the first decision to the final stitch.

Beauty draws the eye, but strength keeps a piece in your life. Inside many pieces of the Kindred Collection sits a reinforcement system drawn from the engineering of luggage, built to carry heavy loads without losing its shape. Worked quietly into the leather, it gives each piece its structure and its hold against the daily pull and wear of life with a companion.

Strength is also something we prove. A piece that carries a companion has to be certain, so every construction is independently tested until we know precisely what it holds. Every recommendation we make stands on that knowledge, set carefully and with room to spare. It is how we approach everything we make: properly, deliberately, so that on every walk, you never have to think about it.

Every other piece in the collection is worn by your companion. The Arc Walking Bag is yours. It is the first Studio Camour piece made entirely for the person on the other end of the leash, for the walks, the café stops and the quiet moments in between. Designed for two carries a second meaning here: sometimes the piece is simply for you.
