Chosen to perform
Every material has to earn its place through strength and function. We choose leather and hardware for how well they do what each piece asks of them, from the pull on a leash to the daily movement of a collar, so nothing is there for looks alone.

Chosen to feel right
Quality is something you feel before you understand it. We choose leather with a surface and a suppleness you notice the moment you hold it, and solid brass that sits with a quiet weight in the hand, the kind of substance that tells you a thing was made properly.

Chosen to age gracefully
The best materials are not at their best on the first day. We choose leather and brass that deepen, soften and develop character with use, so a piece does not just last, it becomes more beautiful and more yours the longer you live with it.

leather for smaller breeds
Smooth, soft calf leather.
For smaller companions, we work with a smooth, soft calf leather. Light against the body and gentle to the touch, it carries nothing unnecessary, which matters when every gram of weight and every detail of fit is felt by a smaller frame. It is dyed all the way through, so its colour holds true with wear, and its smooth surface stands up to daily life: resistant to rubbing, to light, and to the small accidents of every walk. Over time it settles and softens against your companion. Fine enough to meet your standards. Light enough to meet theirs.

Leather for larger breeds
Vegetable tanned full grain calf leather.
For larger companions, we work with a vegetable tanned full grain calf leather. Vegetable tanning is one of the oldest and most demanding ways to make leather. It takes weeks, uses natural tannins drawn from plants and bark, and cannot be rushed without losing what makes it worth the wait. What it produces is a full grain leather of real density and structure, firm enough to hold its shape for a larger companion, yet supple enough to move with every step. Dyed through in the traditional aniline way, without a corrective layer, its surface stays natural and honest, marked only by the character of the hide itself. Over time it develops a deep, even patina, richer in colour and entirely its own. It comes from a tannery that is part of the Consorzio Vera Pelle Italiana Conciata al Vegetale, the body that safeguards genuine vegetable tanned leather.

Hardware
Solid brass, made to last.
The hardware on every Studio Camour piece is solid brass, massive all the way through. It carries real strength where a piece is tested most, at the clasp, the buckle, the points that bear the daily pull of a companion. Brass is naturally resilient, and we finish ours with a protective coating developed to stand up to the moisture of everyday life, from rain to a companion's drool, so the surface keeps its look through daily wear. It is naturally hypoallergenic and nickel-free, gentle against skin and fur. And it holds a weight in the hand that you feel before you understand it, the quiet sign of something made properly. Every buckle, hook and plate is designed by us from the ground up, held to the same standard as the leather it meets.

Reinforcement
Strength you do not see.
Beauty holds attention, but strength keeps a piece in your life. Inside many of our pieces sits a reinforcement system drawn from the engineering of luggage, built to carry heavy loads without losing its shape. Worked quietly into the leather, it gives each piece its structure and its hold, standing up to the daily pull, weight and wear of a life shared with a companion. You will not see it. You will feel it, in a piece that keeps its form and its strength long after the first walk.
